Hydro Excavation: An Overview
Hydro Excavation is a type of excavation in which water, either from the natural environment or from another body of water, is directed into trenches and tunnels. Water excavations can take many forms. In a typical excavation project, workers will use pumps to move the excavated material, dirt and other debris. A specialized pump is used for this purpose, which is called a hydro Excavator. The hydro Excavator is powered by an internal engine that has a water-jetting system and high pressure pump to redirect the excavated material into the desired location.
Water excavators can be used on private land, public works projects, government projects, and even on bridges and under roads. The first step in a hydro excavation is to determine the area in which the excavation will take place. The next step is to excavate a series of trenches and tunnels deep enough to accommodate the excavated materials and the weight they will be carrying. The hydro Excavators used in these projects have a series of attachments to handle any added weight.
Once the site has been selected and the depth of the excavation has been determined, the hydro Excavator is equipped with the equipment needed for the job. This includes backhoes, front hoes, trenching trolleys, water tanks, boom trucks, and hydro diggers. Backhoes are used to make the canal-like depression where the Hydro Excavation site will be located. Front hoes are used to break up the dirt in the canal and to remove the excavated material from the sides of the depression. Trenching trolleys transport the excavated soil to the dumping zone.
Trenching is the method most often used to complete an excavation. Although this technique usually uses more material than the other methods, it is the most efficient. Boring holes in the earth are dug using a trenching machine. The machine moves the excavator into the precise location of the bored hole, which then causes the earth to drain and compact.
Once all the material has been removed, the remaining soil is pumped out and the space is cleared for new development. There is a negative cost involved with this method as well. This is the cost of removal of the excavated soil, the labor costs involved in moving and setting up the new project, and the cost of the materials used to repair or rebuild the area that was destroyed. The amount of soil removed also depends on how much material was pulled up. If too much soil is pulled up then the project will be over budget.
An excavator is a very important tool in the construction industry. When hiring a contractor to do your hydro excavation project you will want to make sure they are fully licensed and insured. Having an excavator take care of the excavation makes the project faster, easier and less expensive. This will allow you to get on with your life while your contractor completes the job. A hydro Excavator is a very valuable tool, so make sure you are fully aware of the cost and what it represents.
